Day by the Seaside - Blackpool!

The first in the DuFFS Day By the Seaside events held at Blackpools "Ramp City" went off, with over 200 kids at the park!

The under 16 street group competition was fierce and the standard of skating was really high! There were a few standouts but in the end it came down to 3 guys, Jasper and Pj from Big Woody's and Jake Winstanley. Jake had a killer style and flowed all over the place and both Pj and Jasper were really consistent all day. It was a close call but Pj edged it over Jasper with Jake coming in 3rd. There should be a mention for the youngest finalist Colton Rickwood who at only 9 years old did airs and inverts and even ollied up the wembley gap!

Ben Raemers - Kickflip Melon

Next was the over 16's and there were a few well known names in there and some amazing skating went down! It was going to be a tight call on this one and was obvious with Local's Adam "Adz" Hardman going off and Avi doing crazy lines and linking some mental stuff together. New Heroin rider Steve Roe was skating strong and was going to be up there for sure, not to forget Shannon and Macca who were both going off! In the end Adz came out on top with krooks down the big rail, feebles and even a 360 boneless down the 7! Avi came in 2nd with flip back tails up the wembely gap, and flip nose wheelies over and down the driveway and loads of other crazy stuff! It was great to see Avi skate as he is for sure one of the most innovative UK skaters. In Third, Steve Roe for Heroin put down some rad Airwalks down the 7 and did some cool wallrides over the driveway!

After the street comps, a mini ramp best trick comp took place and the session was pretty heated. Steve Roe did some sick alley oop leins and got really close to FS blunt slides! Adz threw down some huge benihanas and a massive kickflip fs air! DuFFS riders Carl Wilson, Ben Raemers, Blackwell and Munson were in the mix with Carl putting down some huge kickflip fakies and bs tailslide shove-its! Raemers dropped some bs kickflip melons and bs crailslide reverts, Munson was throwing methods over the hip into rodeo's over the spine and Blackwell killed himself on Kickflip mutes over the hip! He did manage an egg plant on the vert wall earlier in the day which was gnarly!! In the end the best trick on the mini went to Adz for his fs flip indy!

Ben Raemers - Nosebone Hip

Next came the product and sticker toss which was crazy! Kids were killing each other in there! The aftermath was a huge pink area on the floor from the DuFFS Day by the seaside rock! Sorry about that Woody. They will still be cleaning that up a month from now! Anyway a good day was had by all and thanks to everyone at Ramp City and especially Woody and Andrea from Big Woody's skateshop for organizing everything. Next stop is Broardstairs... See you there!
